ESTIMATION OF VESSEL HEEL DUE TO TURNING
Abstract
In this study an estimation method for vessel heeling due to turn has been proposed. A second order differential equation of rolling motion has been obtained as combination of frequency independent rolling motion coefficients basing on potential theory, empirical methods for roll viscous damping and transformation of transverse hydrodynamic forces into corresponding moments acting along the longitudinal axis. Obtained results can be used as an addition to mathematical models of ship motion, which originally do not include rolling.
